Huwelijksreis naar Sint Maarten / Honeymoon to Saint Martin

Algemeen

Wij gingen niet meteen op huwelijksreis, omdat we buitenlandse gasten op bezoek haddenn en we wat tijd met hun doorbrachten. In december 2004 zijn we op huwelijksreis naar het Caraibische eiland Sint Maarten geweest.

General

We didn't go on our honeymoon right away, because we hosted foreign guests. We delayed our honeymoon to December 2004 on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin.

Mo 13-Dec-2004

04.00: Wake-up, shower, breakfast and finished packing.
05.30: The train-taxi service picked us up and dropped us off at train station Naarden-Bussum. The driver had loud Dire Straits music on and he sometimes drove 100 km/h in rural areas.
05.51: Train to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
06.30: We arrived at the airport and checked in our suit case.
08.55: Original departure time from gate C05. The Airbus A321 from Air France arrived too late due to "too much fuck in Paris" (fog).
10.30: The air craft (with captain "A. Gain" ... This is your captain again he said) finally left the airport. Expected arrival time at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris is 11.25. We missed our connecting flight to Saint Martin.
We got rebooked on a KLM flight from Amsterdam a day later. But we had to hang out at the airport for hours.

18.30: Therefore we had to fly back to Amsterdam (flight 1238 with Boeing 737-800/900 = 169 passengers, range = 4200 kilometers ). This flight was originally scheduled to leave Paris at 16.20 but was delayed due to foggy weather conditions. We arrived in Amsterdam at 19.30 and were booked into the honeymoon suite at hotel Schiphol A4 (Van der Valk). We had a big en-suite jacuzzi. Before we used this we used the buffet.
11.30 We went to bed.

12.30: The plane left Amsterdam.
Movies: Shark Tale and A Cinderella Story. Seats: 60A + 60B. We think that the captain's name was "Speaking". The crew gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our wedding.
15.35 (local time, it's 5 hours earlier on Sint Maarten): We landed at Princess Juliana airport near Philipsburg (the capitol of the Dutch part of the island). 15 minutes later it started raining. Our luggage didn't arrive, so we filed a report. They said it would arrive a day later with the next Air France flight.
