Date Details Where?
Sa 25-Sep-1999 Ton signed up for his 4th seasons pass for Cypress Mountain. This year he took the "Nitetimer" for the second consecutive year. This pass gives you 7 days per week access to the ski lift from 5 PM - 11 PM during the ski season. So, this is a great deal for CAN $ 230.

So the waiting is for the snow. All experts expect a cold winter season this year.  Last year all ski resorts had a record snowfall due to the La Niña effect. Last season, we started skiing on 01-Dec-1998. 06-Jun-1999 was the last time Ton went skiing at Cypress Mountain

Again, everybody is looking forward for another great ski season ...

Mostly Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver. And occasionally Whistler/Blackcomb mountains, the ultimate ... we also plan to ski Mount Baker in Washington (USA) and Sun Peaks or Hemlock Mountain (both in British Columbia).
We 10-Nov-1999 At Whistler/Blackcomb the upper elevations are opened for the season. Whistler/Blackcomb
Mo 22-Nov-1999 On Cypress Mountain they now have 30 cm. of new snow top to bottom.

Fr 03-Dec-1999 First season opening day at Cypress Mountain (open: 9AM-4PM). Ton didn't ski that day (only has a nitetimer pass for after 5 PM ...). Cypress Mountain
01) Sa 04-Dec-1999 Ton's first day of skiing this season ... and right away at Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler with Kimberley, Michelle, Scott Freeman and Gary Lum (all from IKON Solutions). Although snow was in the forecast, it was a day without rain or snow fall and the quality of the snow was excellent. Skiing to the village wasn't possible yet (only by downloading with the Gondola lift). Whistler/Blackcomb

02) Mo 13-Dec-1999 First time on Cypress Mountain (19.00-21.30). Crisp and clear night (some clouds) and -5 degrees. The snow was just so fresh and perfect to ski on. Marieke and Frans were there too. Cypress Mountain
03) Mo 20-Dec-1999 Skied Cypress Mountain again (19.30-21.30) with Marieke and Frans. It was a somewhat foggy night, not a lot of people and not bad. The snow was a little icy because of the warm temperatures of the last days. Cypress Mountain
04) Su 27-Dec-1999 Ton went skiing on Cypress Mountain. Just a short and quick exercise. While it was foggy in the city, I was skiing above the clouds and the temperature was about 14 degrees Celsius during the day. It dropped to about 6-8 degrees between 7 and 9 PM. At the viewpoint on Cypress Road you could see over the clouds (fog). Cypress Mountain
05) Tu 28-Dec-1999 Ton went to Whistler (Blackcomb Mountain) with Kimberley, the neighbour. It was a clear and sunny day and the temperatures during the day were around 12 degrees. A gorgeous day. See here for a special photo report. Whistler/Blackcomb

07) Fr 14-Jan-2000 Ton, Frans, Marieke, Silvia and Lucielle (both from Brazil) went skiing on Cypress Mountain. Cypress Mountain
08) Th 20-Jan-2000 Ton went skiing on Cypress Mountain. The last 2 days were beautiful (clear skies) but too many people. Tonight it snowed and Ton started at 6PM on the mountain. The snow was fresh. Cypress Mountain
09) Su 23-Jan-2000 Skiing on Cypress Mountain with Frans and Marieke Luit. See here for pictures. Cypress Mountain
10) Sa 29-Jan-2000 Ton went to Whistler (Blackcomb Mountain) with Frans and Marieke Luit. It was a clear and sunny day and the temperatures during the day were great. A gorgeous day. See here for a special photo report.

12) Sa 05-Feb-2000 Ton went to Kelowna (British Columbia) with a group people from work at "Big White". Read and watch all about the BIG FUN we had! Big White
13) Su 06-Feb-2000 Second day on "Big White" in Kelowna. Click here for trip report with pictures. Big White
14) Sa 12-Feb-2000 Ton went to Whistler (Blackcomb Mountain) with Michel Oicle. It was a clear and sunny day. A gorgeous day. See here for a my special short 15 second skiing experience. Whistler/Blackcomb
15) Tu 22-Feb-2000 Skiing on Cypress Mountain with Michel Oicle (from work). At first we thought the conditions were fine, because they announced 12 cm. of new snow in the past 24 hours. But because of the warm temperatures and the fog the snow was kind of slushy and that made it hard to maneuver. Anyways, we had fun. Cypress Mountain
16) Su 27-Feb-2000 Skiing on Cypress Mountain with Frans and Marieke Luit. It rained during the day in Vancouver, but when we arrived it was great weather. Cypress had received 25 cm. of new snow in the past 24 hours, but the runs were not groomed. We left just before it started to snow. Cypress Mountain
17) Su 20-Mar-2000 Skiing on Cypress Mountain with Michel Oicle, Frans and Marieke Luit (5-8 PM). Cypress had received 40 cm. of new snow in the past 48 hours. Clear skies and good skiing. Cypress Mountain
18) Th 24-Mar-2000 Skiing on Cypress Mountain with Michel Oicle and Michelle (8-10 PM). Cypress had received 5 cm. of new snow in the past 12 hours. Clear skies but the snow was like sugar and later very icy. Could have been better ... oh, well. Cypress Mountain
19) Th 07-Apr-2000 Skiing on Cypress Mountain with Michelle, Kimberley (snowboarding) and Silvia Aidar (lessons from Ton, she did great). Cypress had received 15 cm. of new snow in the past 12 hours. Clear skies and the snow was actually pretty good. A bit icy, but fast skiing. Cypress Mountain
20) Tu 11-Apr-2000 Skiing on Cypress Mountain with Michelle and Michel Oicle. Clear skies and the snow was actually pretty good. A bit slushy because it was 9 degrees during the day. But the snow was in spring condition. We went down the hill with open jackets and it was quite comfortable. The mountain closed at 9 PM though. Cypress Mountain
20) Tu 18-Apr-2000 Ton went skiing on Cypress Mountain with Michel Oicle. Clear skies and the snow was a bit slushy, well ... we're talking sping conditions here. We went down the hill with open jackets and it was quite comfortable. See our awesome panoramic pictures. The mountain closed at 9 PM though. Due to a fall Ton got a cracked rib and bruised muscles in his left chest. He's probably out for the rest of the season. Cypress Mountain
30-Apr-2000 Cypress Mountain is closed for the season.
05-Jun-2000 Henk and Ton left North Vancouver for a day of skiing in Whistler (last opportunity this year, Whistler closed after June 11). The weather wasn't that bad, but is was foggy and there were only 4 upper ski-lifts open on Whistler Mountain (Blackcomb Mountain was closed for maintenance). We had lunch at "Christine's Lodge" on top of Whistler Mountain. Later in the afternoon it started to drizzle and we downloaded back to Whistler Village for some shopping.
