On Sunday 11-Aug-2002 Ton went to the Tall Ships display in Steveston Harbour with Mariane Kurvers. The weather was just fantastic. Some of the highlights were the visit to the tallest ship (The Dutch ship "Europa") and the battle on the Fraser River between the tall ships "Lady Washington" and "Hawaiian Chieftain".

An estimated crowd of 135.000 lined the shores of the Fraser River under sunny skies on Thursday to watch the arrival of a fleet of more than 20 classic ships. Richmond Tall Ships 2002 continued through Monday, August 12 when all ships left port at 10 AM. It was the largest gathering of tall ships and sail training vessels along the British Columbia coastline in over 100 years.

The festival featured an extensive lin-up of free music and arts performances on multiple stages, Maritime and Artist's Markets, beer garden and much more.
