Trip to Calgary (03/06-Aug-2002)

BC Day long weekend. From Friday 03-Aug-2002 until Monday 06-Aug-2002 Ton and Mariane traveled from Vancouver to Calgary and back by car to visit Brendon Joseph and Jeannine Buck who just moved to Calgary in June. Enjoy all the pictures of the scenic route and much more.

Fr 03-Aug-2002 23.30 Mariane at the Pierse campground near Salmon Arms. This is were Ton and her stayed overnight. We arrived pretty late and Mariane had some trouble with the guys at the entrance to get some fire wood.

Unfortunately the larger picture was damaged.
Fr 03-Aug-2002 23.30 Those glasses on the table are still empty ... but not for long. We really needed dinks to get us through the night because we slept only 5 meters away from the train tracks an heavy cargo trains passed almost every 30 minutes.

Su 05-Aug-2002 Brendon, Mariane and Ton went from Calgary to Bragg Creek to look for antiques for Mariane. Bragg Creek is a nice, quiet and picturesque little village.

Mo 06-Aug-2002 13.00 Between Revelstoke and Salmon Arm, next to the Transcanada Highway, a park was built with ferry tales and more ... "The Enchanted Forest". Mariane and I stopped for about an hour to enjoy ourselves in the park. Ton is locked in ... trapped in the dungeon of the castle.

The Enchanted Forest began many years ago as the realization of a dream and has evolved over the years into a unique attraction that appeals to every age. The main trail of the Grand Forest provides
the magical setting for over 250 Jolly Fairy Folk figurines.
Mo 06-Aug-2002 13.00 On the nature path, visitors may climb a spiral staircase inside a giant 800 year old cedar tree or see BC's one and only genuine stump house. A swamp boat is available for self-guided tours to see beaver dams and floating natural gardens, and a naturalist exhibition display shows a variety of edible plants, herbs and roots.
