Pictures from Cypress Mountain (Sa 27-Jan-2001)


Click on the pictures for a larger image. Brendon Joseph, Hans de Haas, David and Christine Hume and Ton went skiing on Cypress Mountain in Vancouver. The snow conditions were good and the weather was just perfect. With temperatures around the freezing leven and a perfect sunny day. We started during the morning and cruised the slopes until 6 PM.

27-Jan-2001 Skiing above the level of the clouds that were covering the Vancouver mainland area. A great sunny day for hours of fun in the snow was ahead of us.

27-Jan-2001 David and Christine Hume in the "Sky Chair". It's the highest ski lift on Cypress Mountain and brings the skiiers all the way to the highest top of the mountain.
27-Jan-2001 Vancouver's downtown area slowly becomes visible throught the clouds. The picture is taken from the "Sky Chair" ski lift.
27-Jan-2001 David and Christine are still behind us ... and that's a good thing.
27-Jan-2001 Look at the great view from the top of the mountain. Under the blanket of clouds you can clearly see Point Grey where the University of British Columbia is located.
27-Jan-2001 A view to the south east where Mount Baker (in the USA) rises out above the blanket of clouds.
27-Jan-2001 Some of the higher buildings in New Westminster that poke out of the clouds.
27-Jan-2001 And David and Christine are still behind us ...
27-Jan-2001 Just before we arrive at the lift station a view towards the eastern mountain range.
27-Jan-2001 At the very top we looked north over Howe Sound towards the coastal mountain range.
27-Jan-2001 A look towards Sunshine Coast (at the right) and Bowen Island (left). ancouver Island is visible at the horizon (behind the blanket of clouds).
27-Jan-2001 Hans de Haas had his very first snow board lesson today.
27-Jan-2001 Question: how many times has that but of him touched the snow today?

Answer: you don't wanna know.
