BOEING 767

History
Boeing commenced design of the Boeing 767-200 in 1978 and the prototype of this aircraft rolled out of the Boeing factory in Washington State (USA) on the 4th of August 1981. The first 767 flight took place only two months later on the 26th of September 1981. United Airlines had the honour of being the launching customer.
Soon the need for a larger version of this aircraft arose, and in 1983 plans were made to increase the fuselage of the 767-200. The aim was to increase the passenger capacity by 20%. These plans resulted in the production of the 767-300, which was first delivered in September 1986. An ER (Extended Range) version of both the 767-200 and the 767-300 was made. These ER aircraft are certified to cross the Atlantic Ocean with only two engines installed.

Facts
The Boeing 767-300ER is a 'wide-body' aircraft. With its twin aisle fuselage it can accommodate a maximum of 351 passengers. Pilots are licensed with a common type-rating to fly the Boeing 767 as well as the Boeing 757.

Martinair Boeing 767-300ER
From 1989 until 1996 Martinair extended its fleet with the Boeing 767-300ER. At present Martinair has 6 aircraft of this type in the fleet all of which are flown in passenger configuration. Martinair flys with a two class passenger configuration: Star Class and Economy Class. The maximum seating capacity is 272 passengers.
